DREW MARTIN

Drew graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelors Degree in Arts in Drama in 1983. He holds an Honours Diploma from NAIT in Radio and Television Arts (1987).


Before starting Mighty Motion Pictures, Drew founded and operated the idea factory! in Edmonton for 14 years. He has been working as an Executive Producer, Producer, Director and Writer for over 25 years and has created hundreds of hours of broadcast television programs for all of the major television networks in Canada including CTV, CBC, Global, A Channel, CHUM and completed work for many specialty networks including, HGTV, YTV, Bravo, Prime, W, Life, Star, Movie Central, Much Music, CBC Newsworld, The Documentary Channel and AMI as well as FNXTV, and several educational broadcasters such as Access, Cdn Learning Television, SCN, and Knowledge Network. He has also co-produced with The National Film Board of Canada and produced programs for Discovery Channels and PBS in the United States.


Drew has Executive Produced, Produced, Directed and Written, documentaries, children’s programming, daytime talk shows, how-to programming and award winning music specials.


Drew’s Directing credits include the multiple award winning, SIDS:Uncovering the Mystery for Discovery Channels, PBS, W, ACCESS, SCN, and Knowledge. The nationally televised biographies for the CBC Life and Times series, The Recipe For Success: The Life and Times of Jean Pare (Company’s Coming Cookbooks) The Making of MEN for CBC Newsworld, Listen Up! For ACCESS, and Who Is Stan Reynolds? for PBS Television. Other documentary directing credits include: Journey of Hope for PBS/FNX and Something About for Movie Central.


Drew’s documentary producing credits have also included three more one hours as part of the CBC Life and Times series on the lives of renowned Canadians, Vicki Gabareau, Ben Wicks and Pierre Burton. He also produced Mothers of Courage with the NFB for CBC Newsworld, and The Great Run of China for CTV, Knowledge, ACCESS and SCN as well as Dance, Dance Whoever You May Be for BRAVO. Drew has successfully produced several nationally televised documentary series including, Close Up for Life Network and CTS and A Priest, A Monk and A Rabbi for CTS and The Documentary Channel. In 2016 Drew acted as Unit Production Manager on the movie Cas and Dylan starring Richard Dreyfuss. The feature length documentary film HUSH that he Executive Produced, Co-Wrote and Co-Directed won Best Documentary at Life Fest in Los Angeles and a Gold at The World Documentary Awards in 2017. In 2018 he Executive Produced, Produced and was dramatic Director on the one hour documentary, Still Beautiful for AMI.


Other documentary projects have been honoured with Awards from Worldfest, The National Educational Media Awards, The American Medical Association, ICVM, AMPIA (Alberta Motion Picture Industry Assoc.) and CANPRO (Cdn. Programmers Awards). Drew has acted as the Vice President of AMPIA (The Alberta Motion Pictures Industry Association) and served as Chair of DOC Alberta and served on the DOC National Board (Documentary Organization of Canada).
